exittheapple
we are nerds. we are artists. we are aquarians. we are married to each other. we are: a designer, a filmmaker, an editor, a DJ, a mixtress, a painter, two writers. we are proud expatriate new yorkers. we are often up too late for our own good. we make fun stuff and it’s online here and @ oyinhandmade.com.
exittheapple has long stood for the idea of going outside one’s expectations, of finding and celebrating new ways to see and portray the world. since we moved out of NYC, people have assumed it literally meant ‘leaving new york,’ but while clever, that wasn’t our original intention. we were called exittheapple for many years while living as happy brooklynites! lol
we seek to create and celebrate independent media, particularly as concerns nontraditional and off-the-beaten-track representations of people of color. we seek to encourage and inspire independent artists, celebrate creativity in all its forms, and connect with our fellow humans through art and the universal principles of storytelling, love, and joy.

Pierre Bennu
Pierre Bennu made his first film when he was eight. Since then, he has earned a film degree at Pratt Institute, met and married his producer/partner Jamyla, screened at and won awards at festivals from sea to shining sea, won an artist fellowship in film from the New York Foundation of the Arts, and wrote a self-help book for artists with a cuss word in the title. Immediately after publishing it, the couple produced their first feature length project. Pierre currently writes and illustrates children’s books, cultivates his massive collection of obsolete technology and media, runs a small business making natural skin and hair care products, and creates scripts and short films as often as he can.

Pierre currently writes and illustrates children’s books, cultivates his massive collection of obsolete technology and ephemeral media, runs a small business making natural skin and hair care products, and creates scripts and short films as often as he can.
