i had a dream

12/17/04

I had a dream that shook me. I’m not sure why I’m sharing it cause I don’t know you like that, plus ya’ll don’t write back much…but whatever I feel led to do it so here it goes:

I was in a suit giving a speech in Harlem it looked like the mid 50’s and in the middle of the speech someone came though the crowd and stabbed me in the chest then in my mouth and the blade went thought my tongue and came out the bottom of my face.
Everything went black and I stated blinking fast and before my head hit the ground it became a pillow.

I was in bed on a beat up mattress and I had an afro. I was dressed in black leather and I had a reb black and green flag covering my window. I was still trying to figure out when and who I was when I heard something hit this house I was in I ran to the window only to see 3 people running away from the house, then the house blew up. The last image I saw before everything went white was the reflection of some one who didn’t have my face in the black sut covered window.

I was absorbed by the light and when I came out all I could feel where these enormous half warm hands holding my back and legs. My eyes came in focus long enough for me to recognize the sky then suddenly I was tossed. I saw silhouette’s as I fell and the side of a large boat. I tried to cry but when I took a breath water flooded in tons of it I could barley exhale when I opened my eyes next I was being sprayed by a fire hose my clothes were completely ripped and tattered and the streets were on fire. So much so that everything around me was this deep golden color. Cars and buildings where spitting fire and then water from the hose what was left of my shirt up my body till it was around my neck.

when I looked down I was 10 feet in the air some where in an open field in fall surrounded by people and the only face I could focus on was this little girl looking at me….

The dream when on and on like this. I was in prison, I was in the Sudan, I was in Germany world war one I honestly don’t remember all of them cause they were so brief. By the time I got a grasp of what was going on in one place I was somewhere else. The last one I can remember was having a heart attack at my cubicle at some 9 to 5 and my head hit the desk calendar that said ‘MONDAY ‘ on it. Needless to say when I finally woke up I was a bit shook.

painting the meditation room

12/15/04

I finally bought my own copy of the documentary Wattstax which if you haven’t you need to. I hesitated cause every time I’ve seen that documentary it gets harder and harder to hold back the tears. The question that brings these emotions to a swell is “where are WE?”
Where is the solidarity? Where is the soul? I mean I have it in my life but it doesn’t seem like we have it as a whole.

You’ll have to forgive me I’ve been in a room painting all day with the window only slightly open so if I drift or repeat myself

The thought I had right before I took a nap was this:
I heard his song being played by a car passing and I wondered…this “artist” is talking about gangster stuff as if it were part of his existence presently however this “artist” has at this point in his/her life been a millionaire since their mid-teens which is to say this person has been a multimillionaire most of his/her life.

The next thought that hit me was the image onto me Erykah Badu’s last album cover and I thought about how lonely that image seemed. There was no one there but her with this big ass fake afro. WHICH I LOVED! I loved the fact that in an industry full of costume jewelry and fake hair she chose to rock an afro wig. Big and sexy and didn’t care. But it wasn’t like she was there with a bunch of sisters in the industry she was alone.
Where is the solidarity? If Jessie Jackson asked a crowd of black folks “what time it was” would they know how to respond today?

THE ONE is actually a black woman in Utah!!!

December 2, 2004
Ok so I don’t know how to feel. When I found out that a black woman wrote the book that “The matrix” (and the subsequent sequels) were based on, it made total sense. I wonder if she imagined Keanu Reves playing “the one” in a Hollywood sci-fi movie so uncharacteristically cast with so many black folks. She also wrote the basis for The Terminator (and subsequent sequels) and didn’t get credit - or a dime - for that, either. I wonder if it was written in her script that the only black person in the trilogy with any lines happens to be the scientist responsible for the technology that destroys humanity.

Sophia Stewart answered an ad calling for new science fiction material. Years later, she sees her work on the screen. After six long years in court, she stands to receive like the biggest payoff in the history of Hollywood... revenues from the six films are over 2.5 billion. However I really don’t know if they can ever give her the proper reparations. They made BILLIONS off those movies and their sequels. She made tons of people rich and helped shape popular culture, while she continued to struggle as a writer with no recognition. Do you think they are going to recall all the Terminator and Matrix movies to add her name to the credits? Do you think they will call her in to add her commentary to the DVDs? Do the Wichousky brothers who (according to most claims) tried to edit the Matrix movies to make it less obvious that it was a stolen piece of material, lose their jobs or credibility as directors? Will anyone loose their job over this? No. Ms Stewart will just get a piece of the pie that she CREATED and probably end up a whimsical footnote to those nerds who care to look.
